A California-based hot chicken chain is continuing its expansion into the Treasure Valley — this time with its sights on Nampa.

Building plans show a Dave’s Hot Chicken on Marketplace Blvd next to a Dutch Bros Coffee and Five Guys. The chain offers chicken sliders and tenders with degrees of spice ranging from none to “reaper.” There are also sides, that include fries and mac and cheese.

The project application said that there is an existing restaurant space with a drive-through.

There are minor improvements planned for the building, including paint, to match the Dave’s Hot Chicken brand, and signage.

“Paint will add to the design cohesiveness and will represent the brand’s intention to keep things exciting, light-hearted and spicy… just like their food,” the application letter said.

Dave’s Hot Chicken opened in 2017 in a Hollywood, California parking lot as a pop-up restaurant. It has since expanded fast with over 700 franchise locations across the U.S. and Canada. and has attracted celebrity investors like rapper Drake.

The Nampa location will still need approvals from the city before it can move forward.

The chicken chain’s first Idaho location opened in Meridian on Eagle Road in 2022.
