West Ada School District officials were part of a Sunday conference call with Idaho Gov. Brad Little and after that call decided to keep schools open the week before spring break. Once that information went out to parents sources say that the District was bombarded with over 2,500 emails in a short time and staff told the district that they were not sure how to handle all the requests to send work home.
It was at this time that West Ada officials decided that in an abundance of safety and looking at nearly empty schools anyway they decided late Sunday night to close schools the week before Spring Break and return on March 30th.
This closure is nothing like the ones being felt across the nation where schools are closing until April 30th of even canceling the remainder of the school year. West Ada students only had Four days of school left before break. Teachers worry that students are loosing valuable instruction time right before state testing.
Add to that parents not ready for kids to be home are scrambling with what they are going to do with kids home. The upside many parents are home to as more and more businesses are closing down during this time.
